If nothing else, believe in ART.

Ozlum G

Studio, street artist, and muralist. Creating art to build positive spaces for all.

Ozlum G is a versatile street artist and studio artist who brings her own style and imagination to public and private spaces. She is passionate about creating positive spaces for community enjoyment and spreading awareness of the existence of female artists and those who have not received any formal training.

The inspiration behind her art is based on the mind and its ability of it to invent art with its use. Working on large-scale murals and small projects using mainly just her hands to paint. She uses many techniques, methods, and mediums to create art drawn from urban, traditional, and contemporary art.

Artist Statement

“I am a muralist and studio artist. My work experiments with the relationship between the body, multiculturalism, and the mind. I have been fascinated with the fashion world and inspired to be a fashion designer and volunteered to work alongside the late Carla Zampatti. I was told by an institute of design that my drawings were not up to their standard and was a little “exaggerated” and “unrealistic” and not good enough to be accepted into fashion, that is when I came to the realization that I was born for the art world all along I just didn’t know it existed as a career. I have always been obsessed with the creations of the mind and the limits it can reach. When my thoughts start with a simple theory, I soon start to evolve that idea and manipulate it to the point of losing control and the mind takes over the idea and it grows and forms a new fusion. As this fusion becomes something visible to the audience it leaves them with their interpretation of the art. My art is inspired by my love for bohemian, gypsy vibe, and also my Turkish cultural heritage by including henna style patterns. I always bring in elements of the things I love about fashion and trends but mainly the fascination I have with the female body and all its curves and imperfections but at the same time it’s perfect. My art is never one style and I will always paint what I want to paint so I would never label my style, I believe art is the creation of the artist and not a category to be created by an artist.”
